Olivia, Why Denim?

I'm trying to understand why I chose denim and what even spawned this "slight" obsession with this particular fabric.

Here's a random, and not so helpful, definition of "denim" (courtesy of Google)

Okay, now that that is out of the way, I will attempt to answer the question, "Why Denim?"

Out of all the other fabrics in this world, why did I take a liking to denim?

“Never Wear Denim With Denim” They Said:

I would always hear how it was "taboo" to wear denim on denim. Oddly enough, I do remember when it was a trend to actually wear denim jackets with matching jeans, but okay. Being myself, I had to combat that fashion don't and do it anyway. It started with the simple Levi jeans and a Levi jean jacket. Pretty basic, if I do say so myself. The denims would be of the same wash, so technically I was matching. “You’re not supposed to be wearing denim on denim” as if there was a law preventing me from doing so. The negativity actually fueled my desire to try something else. I began to experiment with wearing different washes together. For example, a dark wash pair of jeans and a lighter washed denim button up. From there, things sort of picked up... and here we are now.

How Much More Denim Can I Acquire?

I soon realized this wonderful fabric was not limited to jeans and jackets. There was so much more in the Denim Universe that I had been missing out on. I turned this new discovery into a denim conquest. I would literally hunt for any and everything that I could find. I began to take a serious liking to denim even more, because I could now incorporate it in my wardrobe more. From denim jumpsuits, shorts, overalls, chokers, dresses, and purses, denim took over. Even now, I still find myself hunting for more denim items!

Long story short...

I have no idea why denim is now my fabric of choice, it all just happened so fast.

To be completely honest, there is no single reason to why I prefer to wear denim, almost everyday. It kind of happened on accident. I really just like denim! I feel as if it fits me and I plan on keeping it up! Every shopping trip is like a level up in the quest for more denim that I have started with myself. What level are you on?
