How to Dress Like a Pro

There are a few reasons why you have decided to read this:

1) You do not think you dress very well and you would like to change that

2) You do think you dress well and you want to criticize my advice

3) You are bored

4) Some other reason

For what ever reason you are here, welcome! Believe it or not, I do get asked about the way I dress.

I am in no way trying to portray myself as this best dressed human-being who needs to give advice to this poorly dressed world... okay?

Disclaimer: All of the following are just my own methods for dressing.

Step 1: Wearing what you want

It is really that simple. If you like it, wear it. When you are getting dressed, are you choosing an outfit to wear for you OR are you choosing an outfit for you, based on someone/something else? I mean, I get it, trends exist. We all want to be trendy; however, trendy does not mean you lose sight of yourself and what you actually prefer to wear. Wear things because you like them, not because everyone else does. But hey, if you prefer to wear what someone else is wearing, more power to ya!

Step 2: Shopping: You See, You Like, You Can Afford, You Buy!

When shopping, look for items that you actually like. This sort of goes back to wearing what you want--buy what you want to buy. When I shop, I try to forget what is in style and I try to think about my own style preferences. Additionally, I have to consider the preferences of my bank account, ya feel me? Who really cares how much it cost? We take the price tag off anyway. There is nothing wrong with not being able to afford something. Expensive does not always mean cute/stylish and cheap does not always equal ugly. Follow your heart, who should be following your wallet!

Step 3: Are you comfortable?

For some [normal] reason, I only prefer to wear clothes that I am completely comfortable in. Meaning, I like to actually move in my clothing, breathe in my clothing, and sit how I want in my clothing. In my book, being comfortable equals being confident. I like to wear sneakers.. all the time. Forget the norms and wear sneakers everyday if that is what makes you comfortable! Of course my definition of comfortable is different from yours, so ask yourself...

Step 4: Do Not Forget Your Confidence!

Overall, having confidence in what you are wearing is the most important aspect to any successful outfit! Of course, it is easier said than done. Sometimes you have to remind yourself to slip it in your pocket,or your purse. For all the times that you do remember to wear your confidence, no one can tell you your outfit is not fire!

Again, these four steps are completely subjective! You can disagree, I will not be mad at you. If it was helpful, let me know!

Now, go out and be a fashion icon!
